With access to the wonders of Google Earth right on our phones, the art of globe making has seen a massive decline. Now knick-knack versions proliferate, meant only as eye candy for your desk or bookshelf. That’s what make these masterpieces from Bellerby & Co. Globemakers so special.

One of the few hand-made globe makers left in the world, Bellerby & Co. have gained international acclaim for their attention to detail and aesthetically pleasing designs.

The artisan shop began in 2008 when founder Peter Bellerby went searching for a quality globe for his father’s 80th birthday present. What he found were poor examples and the inspiration to build his own. Bellerby dedicated the next few months and thousands of pounds to that first globe. The project ultimately lead to the creation of his own studio.

Today the timeless creations of Bellerby & Co. have a wide following. They have featured in Hollywood films like Martin Scorsese’s Hugo, been used in BBC film work and even in artist installations. They make a range from small 22 cm desk globes, to a large and very limited edition ‘Churchill’ globe at 50 inches in diameter. All are mounted on a roller bearing system for viewing from all angles.
